We pretty much gave up for awhile. Then when Lukas was a few months old we started to realize we were going to want Lukas out of our room one of these days, so the quest for the big boy bed began again.
It was a little rough! Weston at first just kept coming out...I was determined to be a "good mom" and do bedtimes Super Nanny style, you know wordlessly and calmly walk them back to their room (even if it takes a hundred times). That lasted about one night, until I realized that he thought it was the funnest game known to man. Next step was a gate in the doorway. That was okay for a day or two, until he started using EVERYTHING in his room as a stool to boost himself over the gate. Then we tried to raise the gate higher in the doorway....he slithered under the gate. Aaaggghhhh!
We finally gave up and put a childproof knob on the inside of his door. It works! So here are some pictures of him not sleeping in his big boy bed. He has gotten so determined to not go to bed some nights (and days) that he ends up asleep all over the place. Crazy kid :o)
The funny thing about this one and the one below is that we checked on him once after he fell asleep and he was in bed. Then we checked him again before we went to bed and he was like this. It's like he fell half out and just stayed there :o)
My child is not always naked by the way. It was super hot and we don't' have central air (most in the bay area don't) so when we shut his door to keep him in there, he gets kinda hot.
This was at nap time...I tried to open the door to let the air in after he fell asleep and that was as far as I could open it. He fell asleep blocking the door!
I literally had to use the door to shove Weston out of the way. The funny thing is, he didn't even wake up!

Looks like fun! He's a smart little guy. We had to resort to the knob-lock things too. Now we use them on the 2 doors leading to the front yard so they don't go out in the street. They're great! I bet it's fun cleaning up his room every morning. Love Allie
